We are now launching VR extinguishing exercises as a new and innovative training offering in fire protection and hot work. Using virtual reality (VR), participants receive realistic and effective training in fire extinguishing – completely without risk, emissions, or the need for physical training grounds.
Realistic training – safe and sustainable
VR extinguishing exercises give participants the opportunity to practice real fire scenarios in a controlled environment. Using VR glasses and hand controllers, users can practice choosing the right extinguishing agent, distance, technique, and decision-making under stress.
There are many advantages to VR-based Fire Extinguishing Training:
No real fire, smoke, or danger
No emissions or environmental impact
Can be conducted indoors, year-round
Consistent and documentable training for all participants
Highly realistic scenarios that increase the learning effect
This makes VR an effective supplement – and in the long term an alternative – to traditional live firefighting exercises.
Requirements for VR firefighting training from 2027 in hot work
According to announced changes in regulations and industry recommendations, VR firefighting training will become a requirement in hot work training from 2027. Instant Kurs is therefore at the forefront of developments by offering this solution already now. “We want to help companies get a head start and be well prepared for upcoming requirements. VR provides high-quality training, while also being cost-effective and more sustainable,” says Carsten Jacobsen from Instant Kurs AS.
Combination of live exercises and VR in 2026
During the transition period leading up to 2027, Instant Kurs will offer both traditional live firefighting exercises and VR firefighting exercises. This gives customers the flexibility to choose the solution that suits them best, or combine both for maximum learning effect. “We see great value in the combination of practical experience and digital training. VR is not just the future – it is already a very effective tool today,” concludes Carsten.
