Work Warning 1 is a course that provides participants with the necessary knowledge and skills to plan and implement safe work warning in connection with road and construction work. According to the Norwegian Public Roads Administration’s handbook N301, this course is a minimum requirement for anyone working on or near roads. This applies to all work that involves staying in the roadway – such as inspection, control and survey.
The course covers key principles, rules and procedures for safe and effective notification in the workplace. Participants learn about different types of work areas, both simple and more complex, as well as elements such as signage, signaling, barriers and traffic control. Training is also provided in handling emergencies and unforeseen incidents.
An important part of the course is an introduction to current regulations. Participants are given an overview of relevant laws, regulations and standards, as well as insight into the division of responsibilities between actors such as contractors, road authorities and police.
Good communication is crucial in work notification. The course therefore provides training in the use of communication equipment such as radio and hand signals, to ensure effective interaction at the workplace.
Safety and risk understanding are key. Participants learn to identify hazards and prevent accidents through the use of personal protective equipment, ergonomic work routines and correct handling of equipment.
After completing the course, participants will be able to plan and carry out work alarms in line with current requirements, and contribute to a safe and secure workplace for both workers and road users.
